Where is God in the light of extreme World poverty? Bono gets it right.
Why is 25 % of the World’s population extremely wealthy while the the rest is poverty stricken? Why do 50% of children in our World die before the age of five? What is my personal responsibility in this? These are questions I often ask and am trying to act on as a Compassion Artist.
Bono gets it right here … I love to hear him speak on the whole topic of human rights, social justice and equality:
True religion will not let us fall asleep in the comfort of our freedom. Love thy neighbour is not a piece of advice, it is a command … that means in a global village we need to start loving a whole lot more people … God has a special place for the poor – the poor are where God lives. God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is where the opportunity is lost and lives are shattered, God is with the mother who has infected her child with a virus so that both their lives will be lost, God is under the rubble, in the cries we hear during war time. God my friends is with the poor and God is with us if we are with them!
