Today’s Free Download :: “When Peace Like a River” from PEACE

All wrapped up in “swaddling cloths” and lying in a manger was Jesus, the “Prince of Peace” in a world void of peace. This incredible peace is beautifully illustrated with the disciples in Mark 4:36-39 when Jesus sleeps through a raging storm. In a panic the disciples wake him. He gets up and speaks these profound words: “Peace be still!” Jesus is our calm in the middle of the storms of life.

Stephen Gjertson :: Peace Be Still

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 NIV )

Although not a Christmas carol, this next great song of the faith had to go on the PEACE CD. It is today’s complementary download:

PEACE :: “When Peace Like A River” http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/trevordick5

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Chorus:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

“In the Bleak Mid Winter” :: Today’s Free Download.

PEACE :: “In The Bleak Mid Winter” http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/trevordick5

This has got to be one of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever written (a favorite of mine) with a powerful message:

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

May each of us give Him our hearts and lives. Have a fantastic “winter” day!

Trevor
