Trevor Dick Band – “NEW WORLD” Wins 2015 GMA Covenant Award | “INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR”
I was honoured this month (Thursday, November 5, 2015) to accept the GMA Covenant Award on behalf of the Trevor Dick Band. Our recent “New World” project won the “Instrumental Album of the Year” category. For the full list of winners, link here. This was my acceptance speech:
“On behalf of the Trevor Dick Band, Flyingbow Music Ministry and the Artistic Team I want to thank GMA Canada for this award.
New World is a Jazz/World/Progressive Rock Fusion album with Pop & Classical overtones. This album explores global music styles with an underlying longing for adventure, a sense of creativity, the drive to explore new territories with reckless abandon.
I would like to recognize the great team that made this album possible. The Trevor Dick Band members are: Steve Heathcote (drums and percussion), Will Jarvis (bass), Brad Toews (keyboards) and Tony Lind (guitar) and myself, Trevor Dick (electric and acoustic violin & viola). I also thank the wonderful Creative Team: Richard Cleaver (Recording Engineer and Co-Producer), Noble Street Recording Studios, George Seara (mastering), Shane Drever (art work and graphic design), Ball Media (printing) and the Flyingbow Ministry Board of Directors for their wisdom and financial support. The creative, collaborative process of producing this album was truly amazing. We also thank our wives and families for all their loving support.
Above all, we give all the praise and Glory to God – the master Artist who spun this universe into motion and gave us these gifts to give back to Him. We live in an incredible World, full of wonder, beauty, ugliness, sanctity, mystery, complexity and brokenness. Deep down, this music also comes from a place of faith and hope in a new, restored World.”
