A cool new bow technique …

This week while surfing on YouTube, I came across a new bow technique called “chopping” – enabling string players to play more of a percussive rhythmic role. It was invented by the violinist, Darol Anger, who was a part of the well known group: The Turtle Island String Quartet. I have decided to spend the next little while learning and perfecting this new bowing. I am excited about the creative performance possibilities it will offer. You can view the two best examples that I have come across here (violin) and here (cello). Until next time. TD
